How did you get into music production?

I got into music production just messing around with sounds when I was at school, nothing too serious, I almost used it as a game. I’ve been heavily influenced by my dad with his vinyl collection so when I was 12-13, I started to attempt to make House beats. One thing led to another and I had my first record signed at the age of 16.

2018 has been massive for you… Talk us over some of your highlights?

Where do I start?!

Mark Knight kicked it all off for me to be totally honest announcing to the world on BBC Radio 1 with the legendary Pete Tong that I was ‘One Of His Ones To Watch for 2018’. Then I had my first full release on Toolroom – “Give It EP”, it came out on a Toolroom Trax in February and had some serious support all over the globe!

A little bit later through the year I released the Kassia EP.

That literally blew up! I don’t think I know anyone who didn’t play it! From the likes of Calvin Harris to the likes of Alan Fitzpatrick, truly class! After releasing the Kassia EP Mark phoned me and said “We need to get your next EP out on Toolroom Records…” by this point I was completely buzzing because it was my biggest dream to release on the main label! My Warrior Wall EP came out and Mark named one of the tracks on the EP “Everyone” his biggest record of the summer!

How did it feel when you first got signed to Toolroom?

Completely surreal! Couldn’t believe it in all honestly. I’ve seen Toolroom make artists superstars so you kind of feel you are climbing to their league. I remember having sleepless nights over it because I was so buzzing!

Which album did it appear on?

Redstrict was signed to a Toolroom Ibiza VA & went on to be a #1 overal selling album on Beatport!

What happened next?

My world completely changed, I was chasing the buzz of getting another record on Toolroom! I eventually had another track signed then shortly after given the chance to work with Toolroom full time by being a signed artist!

Describe your sound in 3 words?

Chugging, energised, raw

How does it feel having the complete backing and support from Toolroom and Mark Knight?

It’s been my biggest dream come true. It’s literally all I’ve ever wanted since meeting the team in Brighton just a few years ago. I wanted to be apart of it and now we’re all great friends. It’s amazing to work with everyone every single day. Mark’s been a huge help to me – He completely understands how I go about making records. I’m on the phone to him almost everyday.

What advice would you give to other young producers who are trying to break into the industry?

My advice would be network as much as possible! Try and get your foot in the door that way because you’ll have more of a chance than sending music to an email address.

Can you tell us a little bit about your studio setup at the moment?

Currently I am building a brand new studio so I’m excited to get into that later next year. But I have a very basic set up at the moment… I run FL Studio 12 with an AKAI LPK35 Midi. I also have two KRK G3 Rocket monitors. I use a few plugins but nothing to major at the minute! Next year I think it’ll be much more exciting and I can’t wait to show you my plans for the studio!

What are your plans for 2019?

I literally have so much going on I can’t quite comprehend it all. I can’t say too much at the moment, but the start of 2019 is going to be huge. I’m also looking forward to traveling the world doing what I love. See you all in the new year!
