With the season on the White Isle drawing to a close for yet another year, Toolroom are on hand to provide you with an essential recap of this years biggest hits and summer smashes, all in one quintessential album. These are the tracks that have defined the Summer! Re-live your memories and carry on dancing with ‘Ibiza 2018 – Closing Party’
Mark Knight feat. Shovell – ‘Selecao’
As football fever swept the whole globe this summer, Mark Knight and Shovel came through with this Brazilian, samba, carnival inspired track. Shovell adds live hits and trademark vocal licks over the top of Mark’s driving Tech House groove. The live performance at the famous garden of Studio 338 earlier this year captured everything this track is about: feel good summer vibes!
Wheats – ‘Kassia’
Wheats’ story is certainly a unique one. Initially spotted by Mark Knight from a demo submission, in a little over a year he’s racked up over a million streams and countless plays from the world’s biggest DJs. This ‘Kassia’ EP has been supported by the likes of Calvin Harris, Erick Morillo, Kerri Chandler and Alan Fitzpatrick this summer!
Illyus & Barrientos – ‘MEA’
After the enormous success of their summer smash ‘So Serious’ on Toolroom earlier this year, Illyus & Barrientos returned to their flagship label with a more than worthy follow up entitled ‘M.E.A’. From the sunny terrace of 338, to the floors of Amensia, this was a serious anthem from our favourite Scottish duo, heard regularly in the boss man’s sets!
Weiss – ‘Feel My Needs’ (Purple Disco Machine Remix)
Where to begin with Weiss’ ‘Feel My Needs’? It has been one of the biggest records of the summer, already racking up over 2 million streams. Purple Disco Machine’s remix has also been on heavy rotation over the summer In Ibiza. His guitar, horn stabs and strings, with the addition of the Ibiza summer sunshine and you have yourself the perfect, feel good track.
Shakedown – ‘At Night’ – Peggy Gou’s Acid Journey Remix
Peggy Gou remixed the iconic track ‘At Night’ by Shakedown. Gou delivered a 7 minute long version, bringing that iconic synth back to life on the dancefloor!
Tiger Stripes – ‘Jack My Yum’
We’re big fans of the Swedish producer Tiger Stripes at Toolroom. Making his first ever release on Jamie Jones’ imprint, Hot Creations with ‘Jack My Yum’. The lead track of the EP is a bass heavy roller with a smattering of dark vocals. Picture this… you’re in Sankeys and THIS comes on! It’s guaranteed to keep you moving. We hope to hear more from Tiger Stripes via Hot Creations soon.
Ross From Friends – ‘Pale Blue Dot’
Known for his deep, Lo-Fi tracks and that copy and paste style sampling, ‘Pale Blue Dot’ offers something very different from British producer Felix Clary AKA, Ross From Friends. This track comes from his album ‘Family Portrait’ that came out on Flying Lotus’ label BRAINFEEDER. ‘Pale Blue Dot’ is an atmospheric; deep cut of Electronic music and was the second track for his ‘Family Portrait’ album to be released.
KiNK – ‘Perth’ (Dusky Remix)
KiNK released his three-track EP on Running Back, offering three versions of one tune, ‘Perth’, which as Resident Advisor put it are “three peak-time bombs”, featuring chopped disco samples and slamming kick drums. Dusky take the track somewhere a little different, giving it a softer, warmer feel – The sort of remix you’d expect to hear on the beach sitting outside of Mambos.
