An architect of perfectly crafted productions, Rene Amesz’ disciplined approach and ear for infectious grooves has seen him blaze a trail through the years, innovating and pushing House music forward.
Monday sees the release of ‘Let Me’, an exciting addition to his arsenal of hits.
So, we decided to invite Rene Amesz to delve into his back catalogue to show us his five favourite productions of all time:
1: ‘Dextro’ on Toolroom Records
To be honest, I made this tune in about 2 hours on a Saturday night, just before a show in Amsterdam. Tested it and I was convinced: THIS WAS IT!!!!!!
2: ‘Let Me’ on Toolroom Records
This is the title of my latest release on Mark Knight’s imprint. It will be released on May 5th. This time we tried and tested this one for over 4 months, tweeked it to the bone but the effort was truly worth it. At first, I didn’t even know the vocal sample I used – I didn’t live under a big stone though, hahaha! So, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use the sample when I found out what record it originally came from but what the heck….It sounds amazing so let’s use it.
3: ‘Strike Me Down’
This track was released back in 2006 on La Factoria Records. I engineered this tune in the studio in Rotterdam. Made it with Wally Lopez and Peter Gelderblom. This record was kind of my breakthrough as a DJ.
4: Mark Knight & Funkagenda – ‘Man With The Red Face (Rene Amesz Remix)’ also on Toolroom Records
I’m really proud I was able to remix this amazing tune. The original has been one of my fave tunes of all time!
5: ‘Climb The Wall’ on Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain Recordings
First of all, Sander has been and still is one of my idols in this industry. It was an honor for me to be able to release this tune on his label. It brings back great memories, such as playing together at Space Miami, playing a 6 hour set each all the way till the break of dawn. At that time, it was still about good music instead of who’s best at social networking and following EDM trends just for the money. Sincere apologies for artists that feel like they’re being attacked by me now. ;)
Rene Amesz – ‘Let Me’ is out on Monday.
