2008 was a breakthrough year for Prok & Fitch, the hottest DJ / Producer pairing in house music. Having delivered two summer anthems, launched their Floorplay label and club night to rapturous response and ended the year narrowly losing out to ATFC as Beatport house producers of the year. They have honed their sound to reflect the very essence of what they stand for – 100% pure and undiluted flat out house music – an ethos that they have galvanized into the creation of ‘Floorplay’.
Their sound is bouncy and energy fuelled, drawing elements from all genres of house music, making themselves suitable for all floors. Whether it is a big main room, or the dark confines of a sweaty basement; they play for the dance floor never ceasing to please any crowd, with their charisma and 4 deck smashdown!
2009 sees them reaching top gear with a slew of their own productions causing seismic waves in the Buzz chart and a move to London & Dubai for their Brighton based Floorplay club night. Their DJ career mirrors the trajectory of their production career with international club dates and Ibiza residencies in the diary.
The Brighton boys first bonded in 2006 over record shopping. It quickly became clear that their musical sensibilities were in line with each other so they decided to have a crack at some studio work. Their first effort, a re-make of Outro Lugar came to the attention of Roger Sanchez who snapped up the track for his Stealth label and has since been a mentor to the boys, bringing them out to DJ at Stealth club nights around the world.
Since then the boys have been honing their studio skills on a number of their own releases as well as remix credits: including two national top 10 hits in the first half of last year for acts like Utah Saints, and their Outro Lugar track on Stealth picked up some serious momentum gaining support across the globe, from Paul Van Dyk to Radio 1, Eric Prydz to David Guetta. Quick to follow suit was their killer remix of Cevin Fishers - Burning Up - which they’ve turned into a classic once again!
Summer 08 was a turning point for Prok & Fitch – with two massive anthems under their belt, DJ dates across the globe from Miami to Dubai & a summer spent rocking legendary dancefloors at Amnesia & Privilege. Production wise they were gaining serious and diverse DJ support for their tracks from the likes of Carl Cox, Axwell, Funkagenda and Eric Morillo. They had a choice to make. Take the money being offered to sign to one of the big boy dance labels or set up on their own.
Floorplay Music was born, with the vision of being a nightlife icon not just a record label. Since it´s birth the club night has attracted road block queues & praise from everyone, including Mixmag and DJ Magazine with features like the Best in the Land and Best Club night in the south! While the label managed to secure the rights to house classic Kinetic by Golden Girls which they banged into number 1 on the Beatport chart on the back of their own remix.
All this has resulted in a slew of worldwide press coverage for Prok & Fitch from mainstream publications such as Mixmag, M8, DJ, and National news papers – the media have tipped them as ‘One to Watch for 2009’ as have ‘Beatport’ and it's clear to see why.
While the boys stay focused on their objective, they´re locked in the studio working on new solo stuff and collaborating with various names to make sure 2009 is the year. With more releases already lined up on labels like CR2, Stealth, Phonetic, Nervous, Ministry… it looks like it could be a good year.
Their latest single on Stealth chants “This is the sound of the new wave. Let the new wave begin” We couldn’t agree more!
